We have a 45-year-old patient taking Mesalamine for ulcerative colitis. Should pneumococcal vaccination be recommended for this patient?

Mesalamine (mesalazine) is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug. It is not immunosuppressive, so its use would not place a person at increased risk of invasive pneumococcal disease.
