CDC PUBLISHES ERRATUM REGARDING RABIES VACCINE RECALL
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) published "Erratum: Vol. 49, No. 29" in the August 4, 2000,
issue of the MMWR. The erratum is reprinted below in its entirety:

In the Notice to Readers "Voluntary Recall of IMOVAX 7 Rabies I.D. (Rabies Vaccine) Used for Pre-Exposure
Prophylaxis," on page 671, an incorrect lot number was given. The involved lot should have been listed as P0313-3;
lots P0030-2 and N1204-2 are being recalled as a precautionary measure.

WORKSHOP ON VACCINE COMMUNICATION SET FOR OCTOBER 5-6, 2000, IN ARLINGTON, VA
The National Vaccine Advisory Committee, the Inter-Agency Vaccine Communications Group, and the National Vaccine
Program Office will sponsor a "Workshop on Vaccine Communication" on October 5-6, 2000. The
workshop will be held at the Key Bridge Marriott Hotel in Arlington, VA.
The Workshop will focus on (1) identifying key issues, forces, and trends that
influence and shape perceptions about vaccines; (2) determining how to establish more
meaningful discussions regarding issues of concern; (3) defining options for establishing more effective mechanisms
for communicating vaccine benefits and risks; and (4) examining and discussing
the effectiveness, purpose, methods, and timing of current vaccine communications.
This workshop should be of interest to people working in the vaccine and immunization arena, including health
communication and public affairs specialists, public and private sector health care providers, parent and
consumer groups, vaccine manufacturers, and immunization program managers and directors.

WORLD CONGRESS ON VACCINES AND IMMUNIZATIONS SET FOR AUGUST 29-SEPTEMBER 3, 2000
The second World Congress on Vaccines and Immunizations

EPIDEMIOLOGY IN ACTION COURSE REGISTRATION DEADLINE SEPTEMBER 15
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) published a "Notice to Readers" in the August 4, 2000,
issue of the MMWR. The notice, titled "Epidemiology in Action Course," reads as follows:

CDC and Emory University's Rollins School of Public Health will co-sponsor a
course, "Epidemiology in Action," during November 6-17, 2000, at CDC and Emory University. The
course is designed for state and local public health professionals.
The course emphasizes the practical application of epidemiology to public health problems and will consist of lectures, workshops,
classroom exercises (including actual epidemiologic problems), and roundtable discussions. Topics
include descriptive epidemiology and biostatistics, analytic epidemiology, epidemic investigations, public
health surveillance, surveys and sampling, Epi Info software training, and discussions of selected prevalent
diseases. There is a tuition charge.
