CDC OFFERS NEW ONLINE INFORMATION TO ANSWER QUESTIONS ABOUT THE RECENT POLIO OUTBREAK IN THE CARIBBEAN
The National Immunization Program at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has created a new web
page to answer questions about the current polio outbreak in the Dominican Republic and Haiti. The page contains
online links to CDC's polio fact sheet and to question and answer sheets both
for the public and for health care providers, as well as links to information for
travelers.

NIH OFFERS EXCELLENT ONLINE VACCINE RESOURCE
Visit the website of the National Institutes of Heath (NIH), National Institute of
Allergy and Infectious Diseases, to obtain a 35-page publication titled "Understanding Vaccines."
This publication, available to download in a camera-ready PDF format, includes discussions on vaccines and their
benefits, the immune system, different types of vaccines, and vaccine development and testing. It also
includes a helpful glossary of common immunization terms.
