NEW! IAC'S DIRECTORY OF NATIONAL IMMUNIZATION RESOURCES IS AVAILABLE ONLINE

Are you looking for reference materials on immunization or searching for a hotline to answer vaccine questions? Do you want to sign up for timely immunization news by e-mail? Do you wonder what vaccinations you or your patients need before traveling abroad? Do you know the best resources for giving parents accurate information about immunization?

Check out the Immunization Action Coalition's new DIRECTORY OF NATIONAL IMMUNIZATION RESOURCES for answers to these questions and many more. This 50-page guide offers the best immunization resources available from government, professional organizations, nonprofit groups, and private industry. 

In addition to 21 chapters with contact information and links to a wide variety of organizations, websites, hotlines, and agencies, the Directory also includes order forms for materials from the Immunization Action Coalition, CDC's National Immunization Program, and CDC's Hepatitis Branch.

CDC OFFERS NEW ONLINE INFORMATION TO ANSWER QUESTIONS ABOUT THE RECENT POLIO OUTBREAK IN THE CARIBBEAN

The National Immunization Program at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has created a new web page to answer questions about the current polio outbreak in the Dominican Republic and Haiti. The page contains online links to CDC's polio fact sheet and to question and answer sheets both for the public and for health care providers, as well as links to information for travelers.

NIH OFFERS EXCELLENT ONLINE VACCINE RESOURCE

Visit the website of the National Institutes of Heath (NIH), National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, to obtain a 35-page publication titled "Understanding Vaccines."

This publication, available to download in a camera-ready PDF format, includes discussions on vaccines and their benefits, the immune system, different types of vaccines, and vaccine development and testing. It also includes a helpful glossary of common immunization terms.
