NVAC WILL HOLD WORKSHOPS ON PUBLIC HEALTH OPTIONS FOR IMPLEMENTING VACCINE RECOMMENDATIONS SEPT. 10-11, SEPT. 24-25, AND NOV. 8-9

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has requested that IAC EXPRESS deliver the following announcement to you.

*****************************************************

The National Vaccine Advisory Committee (NVAC) is conducting three regional workshops on Sept. 10-11 in Nashville, Sept. 24-25 in Boston, and Nov. 8-9 (tentatively) in Denver. The purpose is for the NVAC Work Group on Public Health Options for Implementing Vaccine Recommendations to hear from a number of different sectors who either impact or are impacted by immunization policy, with a major focus on school immunization requirements.

Each workshop will have at least three panels representing state level policymakers, local level policymakers/implementers, and others affected by immunization recommendations and policies, such as consumers and providers. Representatives will include state and county health officers, legislators, local school officials, doctors, and consumers. Panelists will  answer a set of pre-arranged questions as well as spontaneous questions from the audience.

Each workshop will also have its own expanded discussion topic. For the first workshop the expanded discussion topic will be on national level immunization advisory groups.

NVAC intends to use the information gathered from the meetings to help them  develop a framework for policymakers to use when making decisions about the implementation of new vaccine recommendations.

The workshops should be of particular interest to physicians, nurses, public health professionals, policymakers, concerned parents, and other members of the community who are impacted by or otherwise interested in vaccine policy and requirements.

These are public meetings and CDC encourages those who are interested to attend.

The first workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the first day and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the second day.

Pre-registration is not necessary. Those interested can simply come for the session(s) of their choice and sign in as they arrive.
