NATIONAL IMMUNIZATION PROGRAM GIVES LATEST INFLUENZA
VACCINE ORDERING INFORMATION FOR 2002-2003
SEASON
On May 10, 2002, CDC's National Immunization Program (NIP)
published the second in this year's
annual series of influenza bulletins designed to
update health professionals on the production,
distribution, and administration of
influenza vaccine.
According to the bulletin, production of influenza vaccine
for 2002-2003, at approximately 90 million
doses, is estimated to be slightly higher than
last year's production.
Of special note are two items: (1) "CDC published the 2002
influenza vaccine recommendations of the
Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP)
on April 12" (see IAC EXPRESS #306 at
http://www.immunize.org/genr.d/issue306.htm) and
(2) "Influenza vaccine for the 2002-2003 influenza
season is still available for purchase."
The bulletin states that Aventis-Pasteur is
completely prebooked for influenza
vaccine, but two other suppliers continue to take orders.
- Evans Vaccines influenza vaccine may be
purchased through FFF Enterprises by phone at
(800) 843-7477 or fax at
