CORRECTION: AAP AND IAC CORRECT AN ERROR IN A CPT CODE DESCRIPTION THAT
APPEARED IN THE IAC EXPRESS OF JANUARY 12
On January 12, IAC published IAC EXPRESS #504, which contained a reprinted
document from the AAP website titled Comprehensive Overview: Immunization
Administration 2005.
Unfortunately, the description of one of the CPT codes was incorrect in one
section of the AAP document. The document contained an error in the section
titled Vignette #2. In this vignette, the description for CPT code 90472 was
given as "Immunization administration (oral/intranasal routes of
administration); each additional vaccine." This is incorrect.
In Vignette #2, the description for CPT code 90472 has been corrected to
"Immunization administration (percutaneous/intradermal/subcutaneous/intramuscular):
each additional vaccine."
PLEASE NOTE: The only place the incorrect description appeared was in
Vignette #2. The description for CPT code 90472 was CORRECT THROUGHOUT THE
REST OF THE DOCUMENT.
AAP has corrected the description on its website, and IAC has corrected the
Web version of IAC EXPRESS #504. If you printed the document from the AAP
website or from IAC EXPRESS #504 before January 18, discard your printed
copies. You can print the corrected information from the following sources:
