CDC ANNOUNCES AVAILABILITY OF FUNDS FOR APPLIED RESEARCH IN IMMUNIZATION

On May 19, 1999, the National Immunization Program at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention asked IAC EXPRESS to broadcast the following "research alert" announcing the availability of funds for applied research in immunization:

ANNOUNCEMENT: CDC FUNDS AVAILABLE FOR APPLIED RESEARCH IN IMMUNIZATION

In mid-May, the National Immunization Program at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced the availability of funds to award two cooperative agreements in September 1999 for applied research in immunization.

Program Announcement 99116 solicits applications for Applied Research on New Vaccines. Approximately $725,000 is available in FY99 to fund 2 to 3 awards for a 12 month budget period within a project period of up to 3 years.

Program Announcement 99118 solicits applications for Applied Research on Surveillance of Vaccine-Preventable Diseases in Managed Care Settings. Approximately $435,000 will be available in FY99 to award up to two projects for a 12 month budget period within a project period of 1 year.

These funds are being used to initiate a new, investigator-initiated, peer-reviewed, extra-mural research program. Applications are encouraged from applicants in public and private non-profit and for-profit organizations. This is a full and open competition. The letters of intent must be submitted on or before June 15, 1999, and the applications themselves must be submitted by July 15, 1999.
