1.  Please donate to the Immunization Action Coalition

Dear Reader of IAC Express,

Today I'm writing to ask that you consider making a gift to the Immunization Action Coalition (IAC) in support of our work in immunization education.

With a talented staff of 15, IAC is the largest nonprofit organization in the United States dedicated exclusively to keeping healthcare professionals up to date on immunization news and information. We use our funding efficiently and wisely and have earned Charity Navigator's highest rating, in part because only 11% of our funding is used for administration.

Here are some examples of the educational work we've done so far in 2009 to make sure healthcare professionals get the best quality immunization information as soon as it's available:

  • Hosted more than 5 million visitors to our two educational websites, http://www.immunize.org and http://www.vaccineinformation.org

  • Distributed nearly 1.5 million online Vaccine Information Statements (VISs) in English and more than 40 other languages

  • Reviewed and updated hundreds of IAC's online ready-to-copy immunization education materials for healthcare professionals and patients, with more than 1.3 million copies downloaded

  • Created two online issues of each of our CDC-reviewed publications Needle Tips and Vaccinate Adults, with more than 145,000 downloads. To meet the large demand for H1N1 influenza information, we are now working on a special edition of Needle Tips to be published before the end of the year.

  • Continued to inform the more than 36,000 subscribers to IAC Express of breaking news about the H1N1 influenza pandemic and other developing immunization issues, publishing an unprecedented 61 issues containing 650 articles

  • Added 12 new Unprotected People Reports to the 91 previously posted, with more than 170,000 copies downloaded. These reports give first-hand personal accounts of the suffering caused by vaccine-preventable diseases.

The staff of IAC is proud of these accomplishments and will use your support to continue to educate the nation's healthcare professionals through IAC Express, Needle Tips, Vaccinate Adults, constantly updated websites, VISs in dozens of languages, and ready-to-copy educational materials.

To make a tax-deductible donation to IAC, you can use the convenient online form at http://www.immunize.org/support. Or you can make out a check to the Immunization Action Coalition and send it to 1573 Selby Ave., Suite 234, St. Paul, MN 55104. Instructions for making an honorary or memorial gift are given at the link above.

Thanks for reading this and considering a gift to IAC.

With best wishes for the holidays and a healthy new year,

Deborah L. Wexler, MD
Executive Director
