We invite your organization to join more than 120 organizations in urging
ACIP to expand its influenza vaccination recommendations to include all
children through age 18 years
No government funds have been used to
produce this article.
In February, more than 120 national, state, and local organizations sent a
joint letter concerning influenza vaccination recommendations to CDC's
Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP). The letter urged ACIP to
support an immediate expanded recommendation for routine influenza
vaccination of school-age children through age 18 years. More than 40
national organizations are signatories, including the American Medical
Association, the American Nurses Association, the Association of State and
Territorial Health Officials, the National Association of County & City
Health Officials, the American Hospital Association, and the American Lung
Association.
Though ACIP didn't vote on this specific influenza recommendation at its
February meeting, the recommendation is still under consideration. With the
next ACIP meeting coming up at the end of June, we are seeking additional
signing organizations to demonstrate to ACIP the broad support across the
nation for expanding influenza vaccination recommendations to protect ALL our
nation's children.
National organizations, state and local health departments, coalitions,
hospitals, universities, community health centers, private practices, and
other organizations are all welcome to sign on. If your organization would
like to be included as a signing organization in time for the June 27-28 ACIP
meeting, please sign on to the letter by close of business Friday, June 15.
To view a copy of the letter and sign on to it, go to:
http://www.preventinfluenza.org/ACIPletter
If your organization is not able to make a decision by the June 15 deadline,
sign on when you can, and we will add your organization's name to the signer
list. The joint draft letter will be updated every few days with new
organization names. To view it, go to:

Please forward this e-message to colleagues in organizations that might also
want to sign on. Thank you to the many of you who have already signed on
since January 2007.
