IAC's redesigned Vaccine Concerns web section gives health professionals
answers to parents' pressing questions
IAC recently completed the redesign of its
Vaccine Concerns web section. The section features easy access to resources
on specific topics that parents and patients have questions about: adjuvants,
alternative medicine, autism, MMR, multiple injections, Poling case,
religious concerns, and thimerosal.
It also includes information about and links to materials that broadly
address these issues: the importance of vaccines, ways to talk with
vaccine-hesitant patients and parents, and vaccine safety. In addition, the
section offers a selection of resources IAC has culled from newspapers,
journal articles, other periodicals, and websites.

AMA offers information about a free online option to help providers get
reimbursed for vaccines under Medicare Part D
The American Medical Association (AMA) recently
made its members
aware of a web-based tool that allows for processing in-office
Medicare Part D vaccine claims electronically. The AMA
information is reprinted below in its entirety.
FREE OPTION AVAILABLE FOR REIMBURSEMENT OF VACCINES UNDER
MEDICARE PART D
Last year, the AMA reaffirmed policy to pursue adequate
reimbursement for vaccines and their administration from all
public and private payers. With that, the AMA is letting members
know about a new online opportunity for physicians to access
real-time claims processing for in-office distribution of
Medicare Part D vaccines, for which administration fees recently
moved from Part B to Part D.
Through eDispense Vaccine Manager, a web portal produced by
Dispensing Solutions Inc., physicians and approved staff members
can provide patients with medications quickly and safely at the
point of care. Available at no cost to physicians, Vaccine
Manager verifies patient eligibility, submits the vaccine and
administration fee claim electronically, and communicates
patient financial responsibility, such as the co-pay and
deductible, and provider reimbursement.
Enrollment with eDispense includes a network agreement that
allows Vaccine Manager to contract with Part D payers on behalf
of the enrolled physicians. Reimbursement for the vaccine and
administration fee is paid to Vaccine Manager, which is then
passed through to participating physicians. Vaccine Manager is
paid a processing fee by the Part D payer.
Enroll with eDispense (at https://enroll.edispense.com/ws_enroll) or learn more about this
new opportunity (at http://www.dispensequick.com/edispense.html).
For questions about enrollment and claims processing, call (866)
522–3386.

Providers: Please ask medical assistants to take a survey about their
immunization training needs--the survey deadline is August 8
Providers, your help is needed: A collaborative
project is
looking for medical assistants who provide immunization services
to take a survey that will assess their immunization training
needs. If medical assistants on your staff provide such
services, you are encouraged to let them know about the survey.
Here are the details:
The project is a collaboration among CDC, Emory University,
Eastern New Mexico--Roswell Division of Health, and the
Association for Prevention Teaching and Research. The goal is to
assess the immunization training needs of medical assistants
across the United States. Developed by Emory, the web-based
survey has 25 questions and takes about 15 minutes to complete.
It is anonymous; answers cannot be traced to a specific
respondent. The deadline for completing the survey is August 8.
Medical assistants can access the survey by going to:
http://www.masurvey.org Read the instructions, click the button
marked "Continue," and proceed to the survey.
Providers can review the survey's content before publicizing the
project by going to:
http://www.sph.emory.edu/media/SURVEY_REVIEW_ONLY.pdf
